The MSD basically has a bunch of wires coming out of it. Two heavy ones, a black one
and a red one. These connect to the battery. Next are the coil power wires - they are orange and black.
The small red wire connects to the coil's original positive wire. The small white wire connects to the original coil's negative wire.
First, locate the leading coil. It's near the front of the car on the driver's side.
Remove the high tension lines and the "L1 L2" plastic cap. Remove the two 8mm nuts holding the coil
power lines to the coil. Remove the ring connectors fron the coil posts. The positive (+) lead is closer
to the passenger's side of the coil. Cut the ring terminal on this one and push the lead out of the way.
We don't need it anymore. Cut the ring terminal off the negative lead as well, and crimp on a male
spade connector. This will be our MSD trigger. (It is essentially the amplified output of the ignitor).
Connect the white wire to it. The MSD kit comes with new coil posts to plug into. Put these on the coil posts.
Screw the nut on, connect the orange and black wires (noting polarity) and put the plastic cap back on.
I mounted the MSD to my fan shroud. There are four self-tapping screws included,
and they worked fine. It seems plenty secure. Eventually I would like to get an electric fan, but until
then this is a good place to mount it. The MSD internals are potted so there's really no concern of moisture
harming it.
Now, connect the +12V and ground leads and off you go!
